Coins of Belgium
The Kingdom of Belgium became indipendent in 1830, and after two years (1832) the new state issued its own currency, the Belgian Franc, which remained legal tender until it was replaced by the Euro (2002). Due to the monetary union with Luxembourg (1921), the value of a Belgian franc was equal to the value of a Luxembourg franc, and the two currencies were legal tender in both countries. All Belgian coins are minted by the Brussels National Mint.
