Belgian Euro coins
All Euro coins minted by Belgium between 1999 and 2007 have the same subject, the portrait of King Albert II, followed by his royal monogram. The design was made by Jan Alfons Keustermas. Starting from 2008, a partial restyling of the coins was performed, with the inclusion of mint marks and the word BE, indicating the issue nation, as an ECB directive invites countries to include the name of the state (or an abbreviation) in their national faces. From 2014 the coins present the portrait of the new King Philipphe, preceded by his monogram. On the reverse side, like any other Euro issue, coins have the same design as all nations. All the pieces are coined by the Mint of Brussels, which started to impress its mint mark only after 2008.
