Belgium-Luxembourg economic union
The Obverse depicts the portraits in profile and facing to the left of King Albert II of Belgium and Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, slightly superimposed, with the minting year '2005' at the bottom and the author's initials to the right. On the outer part, the 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union, are interspersed on the left by the crowned letter 'H' (monogram of Grand Duke Henri), on the right by the crowned letter 'A' (monogram of King Albert II), and on the lower part by the mintmark and the mintmaster's mark. The coin's Reverse is the old common side of Euro coins, with the face value "1" on the left and the European Union (before its enlargement) on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with six "2" in incuse (repeated alternately from bottom to top and vice versa) and twelve five-pointed stars.
