Atomium
The Obverse depicts the Atomium in Brussels with the engraver's initials on the right. At the bottom, at the base of the image, are the mint mark on the left and the mintmaster's symbol on the right. On the outer part are the 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union, interspersed at the top by the letter 'B', indicating Belgium, and at the bottom by the minting year '2006'. The coin's Reverse is the old common side of Euro coins, with the face value "1" on the left and the European Union (before its enlargement) on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with six "2" in incuse (repeated alternately from bottom to top and vice versa) and twelve five-pointed stars.
