2 Euro Commemorative coins Belgium 2013
100 years of Royal Meteorological Institute
The Obverse, in the centre of the coin, depicts the number '100': inside the first zero are the initials 'KMI' (Koninklijk Meteorologisch Instituut) and 'IRM' (Institut Royal Météorologique), while the second zero represents a sun. At the top, between the rays, is the minting year '2013' and at the bottom is the inscription 'BE', identifying Belgium. To the left of the sun are reproduced isobars, raindrops and snowflakes, and below the number 1 are the mint mark of Brussels and the symbol of its director. On the outer part are the 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value '2' on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription 'EURO'. Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
