International year of plant health
The Obverse, in the centre of the coin, depicts the official logo of the International Year of Plant Health 2020, consisting of stylised leaves and the circular inscription 'INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF PLANT HEALTH' at the top of the design. The five leaves, symbolising healthy plants, form a circle to represent the globe and emphasise that plant health is a worldwide issue. Below the logo is the minting year, with the initials 'BE' (identifying Belgium) underneath. The symbol of the Belgian mint director (which corresponds to the coat of arms of the municipality of Herzele) is on the left and precedes the circular inscription of the logo, while the sign of the Utrecht mint is on the right, at the bottom of the inscription. On the outer part are the 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value '2' on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription 'EURO'. Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.

630 years since the birth of Jan van Eyck
The Obverse depicts, on the right, the portrait of the Flemish painter Jan van Eyck, while on the left is the artist's signature with a palette and two paintbrushes underneath; inside the palette, between the colours, the author's initials 'LL' can be seen. In the upper part of the coin, towards the left, the name of the painter 'J. van Eyck' is impressed in an arc. To the right, between the effigy and the inner edge, are the minting year and the initials 'BE' (identifying Belgium), placed one below the other and separated by a horizontal line. In the lower part, between the portrait, the palette and the inner border, are the mint mark of the Utrecht Mint and the symbol of the Belgian Mint Director (corresponding to the coat of arms of the municipality of Herzele).
