75 Years of Women's Voting Rights in Belgium
On the Obverse, in the centre of the coin, the female gender symbol (the Venus symbol) is depicted, superimposed on a ballot paper; above the symbol is a pencil, which has left marks on the ballot paper. Along the entire inner border, the following circular inscriptions are stamped: from left to top 'ALGEMEEN VROUWENSTEEMRECHT' and from bottom to right 'SUFFRAGE UNIVERSEL FÉMININ' ('Women's Universal Suffrage' in Dutch and French). On the bottom left, in the only free space adjacent to the border, is the three-line inscription '75 JAAR ANS' ('75 YEARS' in Dutch and French). On the right-hand side, between the design and the inscription, there are, placed on three lines: the initials 'BE' (identifying Belgium), the minting year and, finally, the symbol of the Belgian Mint Director alongside the sign of the Dutch mint. At the bottom, adjacent to the lower right of the symbol, the initials of the author 'IB' can be seen. On the outer part are the 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value '2' on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription 'EURO'. Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
