Cypriot Euro coins
Cypriot Euro coins feature on the obverse three different subjects, the mouflon (symbolizing nature) on the 1 2 and 5 cents, the Kyrenia ship (representing the sea) for the 10 20 and 50 eurocent, and the Idol of Pomos (symbol of culture) for the values of 1 and 2 Euro. In the reverse, like every other minting in Euro, they present the face common to all nations. The design were chosen through a public contest, launched in 2005, where artists were instructed to include the name of the island both in Greek (ΚΥΠΡΟΣ) and in Turkish (KIBRIS) in them. The coins were made for 2008 and 2009 by the Finnish Mint of Vantaa, starting from 2010 the coinage was made in Athens, Greece.
