The Obverse depicts the Heraldic Lion, symbol of the Finnish state, with the minting year to the left. On the outer part 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. Under the hilt of the sword at the foot of the lion is the symbol M, indicating the mintmaster Makkonen Raimo. The coin's Reverse is the old common side of Euro coins, with the face value "10 EURO CENT" on the center-right part and the European Union (before its enlargement) on the left. Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.

The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "10 EURO CENT" on the center-right part and the European continent on the left. Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
