The obverse depicts a starry sky with, on the right, some tree crowns. On the left side is the circular inscription 'JEAN SIBELIUS' (Finnish composer and violinist) divided by the minting year '2015'. On the right side, between the branches, are the initials 'FI' identifying Finland and the mintmark. On the outer part 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value '2' on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription 'EURO'. Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with the inscription "SUOMI FINLAND" in incuse followed by three lion heads.

30th Anniversary of the European Union flag
The Obverse side shows, in the center of the coin, a design of the European Union flag surrounded by twelve stars that morphs into human figures, symbolizing the creation of a new Europe. The design was selected through an online competiton by EU citizens. At the inner-top is engraved the circular inscription "SUOMI FINLAND" followed on the right by the dates "1985-2015". Also on the right, between the design and the years, is the mintmark, while further down are the author's initials. On the outer part 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. On the Obverse, the upper part of the coin depicts the 'Swan of Tuonela' (an image from the Finnish epic poem 'Kalevala', for whose illustrations the painter Akseli Gallen-Kallela is famous). The lower part of the coin features the circular inscription 'AKSELI GALLEN KALLELA', with the two parts of the surname, Gallen and Kallela, divided by the drawing of the painter's palette with the years '1865' and '2015' written one below the other, followed by the mintmark.
