Euro coins minted by France features on the obverse three different designs: the portrait of Marianne (symbol of the French Republic) for 1 2 and 5 cents coins, the Sower (theme present on French Francs since 1870) for 10 20 and 50 eurocent and the "tree of life" (design made by Joaquim Jimenez) for 1 and 2 Euro. On the reverse, like any other Euro issue, the coins shows the common face of Euro issues. The subjects were chosen by a group of experts, chaired by the Minister of Economy and Finance.
