30th anniversary of "Fête de la Musique"
The Obverse depicts a festive crowd with musical instruments and notes in the background. The design is intended to represent the 30th anniversary of the Fête de la Musique, which has been held in France since 1981 on the day of the summer solstice. Above the design is the inscription 'Fête de la MUSIQUE' and the date '21 JUIN 2011'; on either side of the minting year are the mintmark (left) and the mintmaster's symbol (right). Above, in an arc to the right, is the inscription '30e ANNIVERSAIRE' and below that the initials 'RF' (Republique Francaise). On the outer part are the 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
