225th anniversary of "Fête de la Fédération"
The Obverse depicts, in a modern style, the left-facing profile of the Marianne (symbol of the French Republic) with, on her head, a Phrygian cap. To the right, partially above the face, is a cockade with the colours of the French flag in the Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof versions followed, at the bottom, by the initials 'RF' (Republique Francaise). Immediately below the initials are the minting year and the Eurostar logo, while further down is the inscription 'Liberté'. On the left, in an arc and on four lines, is a verse from the poem "Liberté" by the French poet Paul Eluard ("Sur toutes les pages lues Sur toutes les pages blanches Pierre sang papier ou cendre J'écris ton nom"), which evokes the motto of the Republic with the sign of the Paris mint and the symbol of its director below. On the outer part are the 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.

30th Anniversary of the European Union flag
The Obverse, in the centre of the coin, depicts the flag of the European Union (coloured blue in the Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof versions) surrounded by twelve human figures into which the twelve stars have been symbolically transformed, representing the creation of a new Europe. The design was selected through an internet vote by the citizens of the European Union. At the top is the circular inscription "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" followed on the right by the years "1985-2015" written in an arc. Also on the right, between the design and the years, are the sign of the Paris Mint and the symbol of its director, while further down are the initials of the author.
