2 Euro Commemorative coins France 2024
Paris Olympics 2024: wrestling
On the Obverse, in the foreground, is Hercules (a national figure, much represented in French numismatics) fighting with a semi-human representation of the Chimera of Notre-Dame Cathedral. The design is superimposed, on the left, on a portion of an athletics track and, on the right, on the Notre-Dame Cathedral. On the left-hand side of the coin, superimposed on the design of the athletics track, are: in the centre, the initials "RF" (Republique Francaise), at the bottom, the logo of "Paris 2024" with the symbol of the Paris mint and that of the author below. The minting year is at the bottom, superimposed on the Cathedral and written vertically. On the outer part are the 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image. This coin is the fourth in a series that the Monnaie de Paris is dedicating to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where a combination of Parisian heritage and French numismatic heritage is represented.
