Hessen: St. Paul's Church in Frankfurt
The Obverse depicts the Church of St Paul in Frankfurt am Main, with the inscription at the bottom representing the German Länd to which the coin refers, i.e. HESSEN. On the right hand side is the D sign identifying Germany, and further down on the right the engraver's initials. To the upper left is the minting year, and to the lower left is the mintmark, which may relate to one of the following five mints:
- A - Berlin
- D - Munich
- F - Stuttgart
- G - Karlsruhe
- J - Hamburg
On the outer part are the 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with the inscription 'EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT' (concord, justice and freedom) followed by the emblem of the federal eagle, in incuse.

25 years of German Unity
The Obverse depicts a group of people with the Brandenburg Gate, symbol of German unity, in the background. On the left is the arched inscription, set in two lines, '25 JAHRE DEUTSCHE - EINHEIT 2015'. On the right, also in an arc, the inscription, repeated three times, 'WIR SIND EIN VOLK' (We are one people). 30th Anniversary of the European Union flag
The Obverse, in the centre of the coin, depicts the flag of the European Union surrounded by twelve human figures into which the twelve stars have been symbolically transformed, representing the creation of a new Europe. The design was selected through an internet vote by the citizens of the European Union. At the top is the circular inscription 'BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND' followed on the right by the years '1985-2015' written in an arc. The author's initials appear at the bottom, while the mintmark, which can be related to one of the following five mints, is also on the right, between the design and the years:
