100th anniversary of the birth of Maria Callas
The Obverse, in the centre of the coin, features a portrait, facing right, of the world-famous Greek soprano Maria Callas. In the upper part is the circular inscription '100 ΧΡΟΝΙΑ ΑΠΟ ΤΗ ΓΕΝΝΗΣΗ ΤΗΣ ΜΑΡΙΑΣ ΚΑΛΛΑΣ' ('100 YEARS SINCE THE BIRTH OF MARIA CALLAS'), while in the lower part is the arched inscription 'ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ' (HELLENIC REPUBLIC in Greek). To the right, between the two inscriptions, is the mintmark of Athens with the minting year underneath. To the lower left, adjacent to the lower part of the effigy, is the author's monogram. On the outside are 12 five-pointed stars, the symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value '2' on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with the inscription "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ *" (Hellenic Republic), in incuse.

To the left, up to the top, is the circular inscription 'ΚΩΝΣΤΑΝΤΙΝΟΣ ΚΑΡΑΘΕΟΔΩΡΗ 1873-1950', while, towards the lower right, is the arched inscription 'ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ' (HELLENIC REPUBLIC in Greek). To the right, between the image and the inner edge, is the mintmark of Athens with the minting year underneath.
