2 Euro Commemorative coin Latvia 2018
100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Independent Baltic States
The Obverse depicts a design with an interlaced motif symbolically representing the three Baltic states, consisting of a stylised number in the centre to indicate the centenary of the independence of the three countries and the three coats of arms at the top. The design is common in the commemorative coins issued by Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia and was chosen through a public vote conducted in the three states. The coin also features, on the left, the circular inscription "LATVIJA" and, on the right, the minting year, both positioned along the edge. On the outside part are placed 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with the inscription "DIEVS * SVETI * LATVIJU" ("God bless Latvia" in Latvian).

Zemgale: fourth of the Latvian Historical Regions series
The Obverse, in the centre of the coin, depicts the coat of arms of Semigallia (also spelt Semigalia), the historical region of Latvia. At the top, above the coat of arms, is the inscription "LATVIJA", while at the bottom is the circular inscription "ZEMGALE". To the right, towards the bottom, is the minting year.
