2 Euro Commemorative coins Latvia 2023
The Ukraine Sunflower
On the Obverse, in the centre of the coin, a sunflower is depicted: a symbol of Ukraine (the country is the world's largest exporter of sunflower oil), but also an international emblem of peace and closeness to the people of this nation. In the upper part of the coin is the circular inscription "SLAVA UKRAINAI!" ("GLORY TO UKRAINE!"), while in the lower part is the inscription "LATVIJA", followed by the minting year, both written in an arc. On the outside part are placed 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with the inscription "DIEVS * SVETI * LATVIJU" ("God bless Latvia" in Latvian).
