2 Euro Commemorative coins Lithuania 2020
Aukštaitija: Second of the Lithuanian Ethnographical Regions series
The Obverse, in the centre of the coin, depicts the coat of arms of the region, consisting of a shield bearing a knight wielding a sword in his right hand: the shield is held at the sides by two angels symbolically protecting Aukštaitija, one of the most important regions of Lithuania. The entire design is bordered at the bottom by a ribbon engraved with the Latin inscription "PATRIAM TUAM MUNDUM EXISTIMA" (Consider your homeland as the whole world). In the upper part of the coin is the arched inscription 'LIETUVA', with the minting year underneath. In the lower part is the circular inscription 'AUKŠTAITIJA' with the mintmark immediately above it. On the outside part are placed 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with the inscription "LAISVE' VIENYBE' GEROVE'" ("Freedom, Unity, Prosperity" in Lithuanian) interspersed with three stars.

Hill of Crosses
The Obverse depicts the Hill of Crosses, a tourist and pilgrimage destination located near the Lithuanian city of Šiauliai, on which stand more than 400,000 crosses of all sizes and materials (the popular tradition of Lithuanian cross-making and its symbolism are included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list). In the upper part of the coin are the minting year and the inscription "LIETUVA", divided by a cross example. In the lower part, superimposed on the image, is the two-line inscription "KRYŽIŲ KALNAS" ('Hill of Crosses'), flanked on the right by the mintmark.
