2 Euro Commemorative coins Luxembourg 2012
10th anniversary of Euro
The Obverse depicts the Euro symbol in the centre of the globe, framed by various elements symbolising its importance in the various fields (the ECB tower to indicate finance, the wind stations energy, the factories for the industrial world, the ship for trade, the houses and people as symbols of the population). At the top the arched inscription "LËTZEBUERG", at the bottom, again in an arc, the dates "2002 2012", on the right the mark of the director of the Utrecht Mint and the mintmark, one below the other. In the centre, superimposed on the Euro symbol, is a hologram which, when viewed from a certain angle, shows the face of Grand Duke Henri. This addition on the Luxembourg coin, which thus differentiates it from similar ones minted by other European states, is due to the fact that a Luxembourg law stipulates that every coin minted by the Grand Duchy must show the effigy of the Sovereign. On the outside part are placed 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with six "2" in incuse (repeated alternately from bottom to top and vice versa) and twelve five-pointed stars.
Diameter: 25,75 mm
Thickness: 2,20 mm

100 years since the death of Guillaume IV, Gran Duke of Luxembourg
The Obverse depicts, facing to the right, the superimposed portraits of Grand Duke Henri (in the foreground) and Grand Duke Guillaume IV (his grandfather). Below their respective effigies are the inscriptions "HENRI" and "GUILLAUME IV † 1912", while to the right, in the background, is a view of the city of Luxembourg. In the upper part, above the images, is the inscription "GRANDS-DUCS DE LUXEMBOURG" (extending partially into the outer part). Above the inscription, is the minting year "2012" enclosed between the mintmark (on the right) and the mintmaster's mark (on the left). On the outside part are placed 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO".
