The Obverse, in the centre of the coin, depicts the effigies of Prince Charles and his parents, Their Royal Highnesses Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie. To the left of the portraits is the vertical inscription "LËTZEBUERG", which partially extends into the outer crown, as does the monogram of Grand Duke Henri (the crowned letter "H"), which is placed next to the vertical inscription. On the outside part, in addition to the 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union, the mark of the Luxembourg Mint and the mark of the Utrecht Mint are located to the left and to the right of the lower star (there are two variants with regard to the mint symbols: on the BU coincards there is the Dutch mintmark and the symbol of the Dutch mint director, while on the mint sets Proof there is the Luxembourg mintmark and the symbol of the Dutch mint director). The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO".
