Fifth of the "Maltese Prehistoric Sites" series: Skorba Temples
The Obverse, in the centre of the coin, depicts the prehistoric temples of Skorba, located in the north-west of Malta and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Above, to the right, is the inscription "SKORBA TEMPLES 3600 - 2500 BC", written on three lines. Also to the right, near the bottom of the drawing, are the author's initials "NGB". At the bottom, on the left, is the inscription "MALTA" with the minting year underneath, while, on the right, an idol of Cycladic art is represented. On the outside part are placed 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union. There are a number of variants of this coin concerning the presence and position of the mintmark, the mint director's symbol and the letter 'F' identifying France. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.

Fifth of the "From Children in Solidarity" series: Children's game
The Obverse depicts the traditional games of Maltese children: marbles, spinning tops, kites and a Maltese version of the bell game. Three bees in flight complete the design, identifying a famous song sung by Maltese children during their games. In the upper part of the coin, on the left, is the arched inscription "Malta", while the minting year is on the lower part. (The BU coincards feature the mark of the Paris Mint and the symbol of its director, placed on the right-hand side of the coin, near the inner edge). The author of the drawing is Ymen Riahi, a secondary school student. Pupils from this school grade are targeted by the Malta Community Chest Fund's "From Children in Solidarity" programme. On the outside part are placed 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
