50 eurocent Principality of Monaco
1st type: Prince Rainier, years 2001-2005
On the Obverse we find in the centre a knight, seal of the reigning Grimaldi family, while on the outside part are placed at the top the inscription "MONACO", at the bottom the minting year enclosed between the mintmark and the mintmaster's mark, to the right and to the left the 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union (six on each side). The coin's Reverse is the old common side of Euro coins, with the face value "50 EURO CENT" on the center-right part and the European Union (before its enlargement) on the left. Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
