Coins of Netherlands
The Kingdom of the Netherlands is an independent state since 1581, and its historic currency, the Dutch Guilder, immediately had legal tender and was also used in several other countries belonging to the vast colonial empire that Netherlands possessed. The Guilder was coined for over 400 years and replaced only by the Euro, in 2002.
All Dutch coins have always been minted in the "Koninklijke Nederlandse Munt", the Royal State Mint based in Utrecht.
