50th anniversary of the Signature of the Treaty of Rome
The Obverse depicts in the centre the design of the Treaty, surmounted by the word "EUROPA", signed by the six founding countries of the European Economic Community, with the paving of the Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome in the background. At the top, set in an arc on two lines, the inscription "TRATADO DE ROMA - 50 ANOS". At the bottom, again in an arc, the inscription "PORTUGAL", with immediately above it the minting year "2007". To the right is the mintmark "INCM". On the outside part are placed 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with 7 castles and 5 heraldic coats of arms in incuse.

The Obverse depicts a cork oak tree, to the left of the trunk is the Portuguese coat of arms, while to the right is the inscription "PORTUGAL" on three lines. At the bottom, in an arc, from left to right, are the signature of the author, the minting year "2007", the mintmark "INCM" and finally the inscription "PRESIDÊNCIA DO CONSELHO DA UE". On the outside part are placed 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union.
