500th anniversary of the death of Pietro Perugino
The Obverse, in the centre of the coin, depicts the Holy Virgin and Child Jesus, a detail of the work "Madonna with Child enthroned between Saints John the Baptist and Sebastian" by the italian painter Pietro di Cristoforo Vannucci, known as Perugino and conserved in the Uffizi Galleries in Florence. Near the inner edge, the circular inscriptions "SAN MARINO" on the right and "PERUGINO" on the left are engraved, the last one preceded by the mintmark "R". At the top left, in the space between the inscription and the image, are the years "1523" and "2023", written one below the other. At the bottom, below the design, the author's initials "MAC" can be seen. On the outside part are placed 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with six "2" in incuse (repeated alternately from bottom to top and vice versa) and twelve five-pointed stars.

The Obverse, in the centre of the coin, depicts an angel, a detail of the painting " The Elect in Paradise" by the Italian painter Luca Signorelli (pseudonym of Luca d'Egidio di Ventura, one of the greatest representatives of Renaissance painting) and conserved in the Chapel of San Brizio in Orvieto Cathedral. Near the inner edge of the entire coin are the following inscriptions: to the right "SAN MARINO" and to the bottom left "SIGNORELLI" (written in an arc), at the top the years "1523 - 2023", to the left, immediately above the angel's arm, the mintmark "R" and at the bottom, near the angel's foot, the author's initials "MB". On the outside part are placed 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union.
