Coins of Slovakia
The Slovak Republic proclamed its indipendence on 1 January 1993, due to the split of Czechoslovakia. On 8 February the new state introduced its national currency, the Slovak Koruna, which replaced the previously used Czechoslovak Koruna. The currency was legal tender until the adoption by the country of the Euro, on 1 January 2009.
All Slovak coins are minted by the National Mint of Kremnica.
