The Obverse depicts, in the centre of the coin, the coat of arms of the Slovak Republic on a background of circular lines tending towards an imaginary point positioned below the coat of arms. To the right of the coat of arms is the minting year, while below it are the mintmark "MK" and the author's initials "VP". Surrounding the design is the arched inscription "SLOVENSKO" at the top, while the circular inscription "PREDSEDNÍCTVO SR V RADE EÚ" (Slovak Presidency of the Council of the EU) is engraved on the rest of the circumference, separated from the name of the country by two dots. On the outer part 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with the inscription "SLOVENSKÁ REPUBLIKA" and two stars interspersed with a lime leaf.
