2 Euro Commemorative coins Slovakia 2019
100 years since the death of Milan Rastislav Štefánik
The Obverse, on the right-hand side of the coin, features a portrait of Slovak politician Milan Rastislav Štefánik (one of the promoters of Czechoslovak independence in 1918). To the right again, in the space between the effigy and the edge of the inner part, is the minting year followed, towards the bottom, by the author's initials "PV" and the mintmark "MK" (the mintmark is engraved above the image). The left-hand side of the coin features the following circular inscription on two lines: "SLOVENSKO", near the edge and written from bottom to top, followed by "MILAN RASTISLAV ŠTEFÁNIK", written from top to bottom. Between the inscription and the portrait, towards the bottom, are the years "1880" and "1919" (the years of the politician's birth and death), engraved one below the other. On the outer part 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with the inscription "SLOVENSKÁ REPUBLIKA" and two stars interspersed with a lime leaf.
