100 years since the birth of Alexander Dubček
The Obverse depicts the portrait, facing left, of Slovak politician Alexander Dubček (a political figure famous for the Prague Spring, during which he, secretary of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, attempted to introduce reforms to grant rights and freedoms to citizens). On the left, near the inner edge, is the circular inscription "SLOVENSKO", while on the right, also near the edge, is the minting year, with the mintmark "MK" underneath. Superimposed on the lower part of the effigy is the inscription "Alexander Dubček" (on two lines and with the surname written in larger font), followed at the bottom by the year of birth "1921" and the year of death "1992" of the politician, written one below the other. At the bottom, again superimposed on the image and placed next to the year of death, are the author's initials "BR". On the outer part 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with the inscription "SLOVENSKÁ REPUBLIKA" and two stars interspersed with a lime leaf.
