Slovak Koruna coins
The Slovak Koruna was introduced in Slovakia on 8 February 1993, replacing the analogous currency of the dissolved Czechoslovakia, with an exchange rate at par. The Koruna was divided into cents, which took the name of heller.
During the period between independence and the adoption of the Euro, the Republic of Slovakia issued a single set of coins, including the 10, 20 and 50 heller values, as well as the 1, 2, 5 and 10 Crowns.
The coins had all the same subject on the obverse, the national Coat of Arms of the Republic followed by the indication of the issuing country, while on the reverse were used designs from the history of Slovakia.
The crown was replaced by the euro, with an exchange rate of 1 euro = 30.1260 crowns, on 1 January 2009, and ceased to be legal tender on 16 January of the same year.
