2 Euro Commemorative coins Slovenia 2020
500 years since the birth of Adam Bohorič
The Obverse depicts a multilingual sentence from the cover of the most important work by the Slovene linguist Adam Bohorič, the book written in Latin "Arcticae horulae succisivae" (in Slovene "Proste zimske urice"), the first grammar of the Slovene language and the first normative guide; it was Adam Bohorič who codified the first Slovene alphabet (today called the Bohorič alphabet, recognisable by the use of a typical "f"). The phrase, "Every language shall know God", in Slovenian "Vsaki jezik bode Boga spoznal" (with the typical "f" in the last word) is in the foreground, while in Latin "Omnis lingua confitebitur Deo" is in the background. From the left towards the top of the coin, near the inner edge, is the circular inscription "ADAM BOHORIČ1520 | SLOVENIJA 2020". On the outer part 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
