2 Euro Commemorative coins Slovenia 2021
200 years since the foundation of the provincial museum of Carniola
The Obverse depicts four inscriptions in concentric circles; the three external inscriptions are the names of the Museum during the various periods of its history, both in Slovene and in German ("KRANJSKI STANOVSKI MUZEJ KRAINISCH STANDISCHES MUSEUM", "1821 DEZELNI MUZEJ ZA KRANJSKO", "KRAINISCHES LANDESMUSEUM RUDOLFINUM"), while the inner inscription includes the name of the issuing country "SLOVENIJA" and the minting year. The inscriptions are inspired by the engravings on the situla (archaeological term for a metal vase) found in the village of Vače, a symbol of the oldest Slovene civilisation and preserved in the Museum. On the outer part 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "2" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO".
