Spanish Euro coins
Spanish Euro coins features three different designs on the obverse, one for the 1 2 and 5 cents coins (the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela), one for the 10 20 and 50 eurocent values (the portrait of Miguel de Cervantes) and one for the 1 and 2 Euro coins (the portrait of King Juan Carlos I), while on the reverse side, like any other Euro issue, the design is common to all nations.
Since 2015, due to the abdication of Juan Carlos, the 1 and 2 Euro coins features the portrait of the new King Felipe VI.
In all coins are engraved the 12 five-pointed stars representing the European Union and the writing ESPANA.
