Coins of Vatican City
Vatican City is the smallest sovereign state in the world, enclaved within the city of Rome. Due to its position, the Vatican City has numerous bilateral relations with the Italian state, including the monetary agreement (1929), which introduced the equivalence of the currencies (Vatican Lira and Italian Lira), that were legal tender in both countries (the Sammarinese Lira was also equivalent of the other 2 currencies). Since 2002 the country has adopted the Euro, even if it's not member of the European Union, by virtue of the agreements with Italy and coined its own series.
All Vatican coins are minted by the Italian Mint in Rome.
